Scarlett Johansson, American actress (born on November 22, 1985 New York City New York) has received acclaim for her acting abilities across genres such as historical dramas, thrillers and action adventures. Johansson was born to a renowned architect, as well as producer, was brought up as a child in New York City. Her twin brother Hunter as well as her mother were her youngest siblings. She began to develop an interest in acting from a very young age, and began auditioning for commercials at age seven. She was enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly after and was a student at the Professional Children's School, Manhattan to further her education. In the age of eight, she starred with Ethan Hawke in the Off-Broadway production Sophistry, and at nine she made her film debut with Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson was next seen on screen in Just Cause (1995), prior to her breakthrough by starring in Manny & Lo - a story about two sisters, orphans, who manage to get away.
